Installation Instructions: Callthentic Installation on IGTV
If a calling number is found in your contacts, the call is allowed through as normal. If not, the caller is asked to press a digit to complete the call. In doing this, it prevents nearly all robocalls. So basically it ensures that a human is making the phone call to you. If the caller does not respond to the key press request, the call is terminated. You will receive a notification that a call was screened and it will be noted on your Callthentic "recently screened" dashboard. If you need to return that call for any reason, just press the number on the dashboard or find it in your iPhone recent call screen.
Unanswered calls from your contacts will be sent to your Callthentic voicemail. From the Voicemail screen, you should record your own personalized greetings for the unknown caller and voicemail. If you choose to record your own unknown caller greeting, be sure to instruct the caller to "press any key." When you receive a voicemail, you will get a notification and a text message the voicemail details. The details will include a transcription if available. If the voicemail was from a mobile phone, the text will include a link to reply via SMS. Otherwise the text will include a link to return the call. To listen to the voicemail, open the Callthentic voicemail screen. From there you have both playback and transcription view. Swiping the message row provides the ability to delete.
To work with our system, think of your phone having a virtual second number. It doesn't actually have another number, but we do send screened calls back to your phone using voice over IP (VoIP). This means that either cell data or wifi is required to accept screened calls that were not in your contacts. The mobile carriers have data coverage almost everywhere these days, so having service is rarely a problem. Even if you do not have an unlimited data plan with your carrier, consumption of data for voice is low.
If you are in a place where no data is available and fear missing an important call, you can disable call processing. Just go to the Settings screen, and select the "Enable" button to stop the call forwarding. After doing this, your status indicator on the home screen will turn red and the Settings screen will automatically appear to remind you. When you are in a better location, just enable call forwarding again.
Yes you can close the app, and Callthentic will still protect your phone. You only need to open the app to view your recently screened calls, voicemails, or change settings.
The monthly subscription is currently $1.99 a month for iOS13 and $2.99 for iOS12, with a 7-day free trial period. If you cancel your subscription with Apple before the 7-day free trial ends you will not be billed.
