WHITEWATER — UW-Whitewater gymnast Kara Welsh died Aug. 30 after being shot eight times by former UW-Whitewater wrestler Chad Richards, who told police they argued and then struggled over a gun, court documents filed Friday show.

According to a criminal complaint filed Friday in Walworth County Circuit Court, officers who arrived on the scene around midnight Friday, Aug. 30, found Richards, 23, in the hallway of his apartment building near the UW-Whitewater campus, “crying hysterically.”
